3 Days Hands on Workshop on Chemoinformatics

Is organizing
3 Days Hands on Workshop in Chemoinformatics
 18th November to 20th November 2016.

Chemoinformatics is a rapidly developing branch of chemistry. In the coming days the students who have studied Chemoinformatics will be required not only in India but in foreign countries too! The requirement of trained manpower from the discipline such as Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology is the fuel for the growth of Chemoinformatics. The development of Chemoinformatics needs a workforce with a solid background in chemistry and an expertise of the available computer technology. Application of Chemoinformatics is in areas like Agrochemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries, Computational chemistry and library design groups, Chemical software companies, Database developers, Chemical publishers, In-silico Drug Discovery, Toxicity predictions, ADME prediction of Molecules, Chemicals Vendors , R&D, etc
Salient Features of the Workshop:
Workshop groups will study problems with hands-on examples using computational chemistry methods and discuss issues highlighted by examples and Case Studies presented by instructors. A Case Study set with a focus on chemical database creation and filtering drug like compounds will be used to link all workshop activities throughout the workshop.

On completion of this workshop you will be expertise in:
  • Application of Chemoinformatics in drug discovery.
  • Training from industry experts from Chemoinformatics domain.
  • Analyzing chemical fingerprint.
  • Generating Knowledge from structure and different chemical databases
  • Using various chemical structure drawing and visualization tools
  • Digitizing your chemical Data.
  • Storing molecules in wide array of format.

Obama Launches Cancer Moonshot Task Force

President Barack Obama officially has launched the White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force, which will seek to address unnecessary regulatory barriers to developing new cancer treatments.
Members of the task force — which will be chaired by Vice President Joe Biden — include the heads of the FDA, HHS, the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health.  The task force, funded by NIH, will present a report to the president before Dec. 31.
Peter Pitts, president and founder of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest and a former FDA associate commissioner, said the president should ask HHS to appoint an innovation czar to make the most of resources.

Life Science and Informatics

What is this?
is this a new industry?
or a old wine in a new bottle?

Well Life Sciences and Informatics can be anything form computational biology, all omes and omics, core bioinformatics to curation and literature mining, database creation, in the area of biology, chemistry , bio-chem space.

There are number of companies in India and bangalore is the forefront as a major bio-cluster with 20 to 30 companies in this sphere.

now how good are these companies doing?
how good are they in terms of the international markets and how profitable is their business?
what do they do?
their clients?

These are some interesting things that could be discussed in this blog page...
